I find that you are moving from one idea to the next too quickly for the information or idea to register in my slow brain. Its not that you should slow down the pace of your delivery but that you need to provide more pauses at the appropriate places to let it all "sink in".
Agreed. I need to work on this. This has been raised before.

I have no trouble in understanding your accent but I wonder if a non-native English speaker would understand quite so well.
My girlfriend is French so I sort of use her as a guide - if she is visibly lost I do the audio again.

With regard to the latest episode, I thought that reading out the Yeats poem failed - sorry! and most of your audience would have switched off and might not listen to the remainder of your video.
No!!!!

But I agree with you actually. In hindsight it was a mistake.

As a suggestion, why not flash up the poem but give us a simple voiced precise of Yeats rather than reading it, line by line.
I'm not sure I follow you here?

Perhaps I would have been better just reading the final (most famous) verse?

Also I think you need to flip from photo to photo much less. I found it a bit annoying that the same photo would keep popping up - eg a couple of times is quite adequate for Pearse's photo but does not need to be "sinc-ed" with each mention of his name.
Agreed. I had some questions about this.

What about the audio quality? Another youtuber who I've got to know told me that I need to upgrade my microphone or at least learn how to mix/edit properly. What did you think?

Thanks so much for the feedback. Believe it or not I intend to work on the points you raised. It's still early days on the channel.

What gives me hope is that sometimes I go and look at the early videos of some youtubers and they are very cringeworthy compared to the most recent ones. I guess you get better the more you make.

Irish Accent + Irish History = Instant Subscriber

Have you thought about making these as podcasts? Anyway, great job!

Thanks so much.

Thats the idea (eventually)

I plan to do a ten part series on the Easter Rising and its Aftermath (Bringing us up to the Mansion House/First Dail/Democratic Programme etc.

From January 1919 I'll do a month by month account a lot like 'The Great War' Channel does for WWI (Which is weekly)

Hopefully I'll do the ocassional special episode (the war in cork/Dail Courts/Ulster during the war of independence etc.)

Anyway, at the moment I'm just learning the craft. I'm working on improving the audio quality and some of the pacing issues for the next episode!

Agreed - much better idea in my view.

Annelouise, I'm sorry I thought I had responded to this. Thanks for your comment. I'm not technical at all, thus the learning curve is very steep.

My first priority always will be, of course, the history. If I get something wrong I want people to know that its from the best possible motivation and not an attempt to rewrite things.

You definitely have more passion in your voice but the speeding up and slowing down made in a little hard to follow. A bit of trivia, the American Irish payed to rebuild Dublin.

I understand your accent easily.

I liked the Yeats intro a lot, but I can see why some didn't.
