Re: Are the brits more german or celtic?

If your refering to culture rather than race, I agree. The Scots and the Irish are celtic. Perhaps not enough attentiont to culture has been given in these threads asking who (what) people are? My thanks

So are you guys saying that their are no people of celtic heritage in England proper? All the celtic gene pool was pushed to ireland, scotland, cornwall, devon, brittany, and wales.

Probably doesn't mean that all of the Celtic gene pool ended up in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Cornwall, and Devon. What it does mean is that those would be the areas where the Celts remained in the majority. Also, it would be well to remember that there would have been considerable intermixing of blood between German and Celt over the centuries.

JerseyPerson14,

I salute you! A lot of people don't let their lack of facts about a question stop them from having an opinion about it.

What I did, starting about 40 years ago, is go to the library and find some books about stuff I wanted to read up on. I would pick books that had a bibliography in them and check to see if any of those books were available. If if they were, and they had a bibliography - well, it doesn't get any better than that.

I don't know what your interests are, but The Diary of Samuel Pepys ("peeps") is a good one.

Thank you fot your honesty JerseyPerson14
To be honest myself, I don't really feel qualified to answer such a difficult question? I have been reading some articles by Professor Tom Devine on this subject, and he seems to think that the difference between the Scots and the English is cultural and social rather than racial?
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful
