"two front war"? encircling Russia between Japan and Gremany?Germany was at that time not very much strong in that area,I think it had no ambition in Manchuria, only UK(had stronge base in India so it was able to dispatch fleet to East Asia area) and Russia(bordered with Manchuria so can sent army to that area) had relatively higher ability to compete in that area.UK really wanted to halt Russia's dominance in East Asia and that's why they reached and Anglo-Japanese alliance with Japan in 1902.

If Japan did invade, could they have invaded far enough to threaten any vital area of Russia? I ask because the Germans supply lines were stretched on the way to Moscow, but I believe Siberia is far far larger. So was a Japanese invasion a threat to worry about?

After the occupation of Manchukuo, Japan turned its military interests to Soviet territories that bordered those areas. The first major Soviet-Japanese border incident , happened in 1938 in Northwest China. Clashes between Japanese and Soviet forces frequently occurred on the border of Manchuria. In the region which the Empire of the Rising Sun were attacking, which were the rivers of Khalkhin Gol and territories occupied by forces lead by Soviet General Grigoriy Krivosheev. And we should also list the Soviet Union had no alliance with, such as Burma, Guam, and Hong Kong. If Germany under Hitler and Himmler would have decided to invade Soviet occupied Asian Territories in 1939 in assistance to Japan after the Battles of Khalkhin Gol or in 1945 in retaliation for the Red Army annexation of Poland, the SS would most likely would have moved forward to Norway-Denmark along with Northern Turkey. But under the conditions and outnumbering in armies in both area, the Third Reich would be forced to flee several miles back to regoup against Soviet invading forces.
