Hitler the Lady-killer

Why did so many of Hitlers girlfriends die in mysterious circumstances??
As far as I know, even Ava Braun tried to commit suicide , and was reputed to be a very unhappy person? Anyone know more about this peculiar affect that Hitler had on women??

Hitler, like Stalin, Mussolini and a variety of other dictators from that time had simply one vice; power. Love was always secondary.

edit: It's worth noting that Stalin's second wife killed herself just like Hitler's first lover.

I've never gone into that, but it's an interesting question.

The point is were those relationships really about love (I know it's strange talking about love regardingpeople like them) or about another form of power exercised on other humans.

For those woman the power might have seen first attractive, hoping that in a personal relationship things would not be the same, only to find out that for their men it's just another form of domination.

But who knows?

Re: Hitler the Lady-killer

I remember reading something somewhere about Marlene Dietrich, the Hollywood sex symbol of the time, apparently Hitler had a bit of a crush on her and she was invited by the natzi party to return to Germany,an offer she declined. She later claimed she regretted this as she felt she may have been able (in hindsight) to influenze Hitler and make him a better person???
I think she was being very naive here, and she made the right choice to stay in the U.S.

I disagree she might have been able to change him. I mean look at Ivan the terrible. Whn Ivan was the Czar of Russia he was a ruthless person that killed countless people. But when he married his wife he became softer. As a member of his inner circle once said he wasn't the same person that ruled his people with an iron fist

think that any simplemet that he did not like them, that he could love nobody. I think that he had refused to get married to Eva Braun and that he wanted to stop to see it, it is perhaps it that has him " break the heart ". She had to have an emotional dependency him. Everybody knows that it been extrêment subjected (and besides it is for it that it has had a link with her). You realize, to be with the one that everybody venerate? They must be ready for all so that he stays with you. And when it decides to leave, it must be unbearable, especially that you were very "obedient ", without ever complaining anything him, by satisfying you of the few that he gave you...It is as when they are under the influence of a guru, they are ready for all for him.

Re: Hitler the Lady-killer

Hitler was a nihilist at heart. National Socialism was the means by which he would meet these desires. Why not leave Berlin in 1945? Why stay and face certain death? The answer: that Hitler was suicidal and had been throughout his adult life. He had expressed suicidal tendencies (or desires) after the failed putsch in 1923; after the death of his niece, Geli Raubal in 1931; during the power struggle with the Strasser brothers in 1932; and then in 1944 during numerous dark moods in the autumn months.

National Socialism could not have lasted a thousand years as Hitler had predicted. Hitler's peculiar brand of authoritarian and charismatic rule actually disallowed its own reproduction and survival and therefore depended for its existence on Hitler. No Hitler, no nazism: political, ideological and cultural suicide.

Hitler himself, even considering the fact that he had pretensions of being an artist, was entirely devoid of genuine constructive, creative abilities. If anyone should happen to read Albert Speer's dodgy memoir, Inside the Third Reich, you cannot fail to see Hitler obsession with the construction of ever bigger and colossal structures not as a creative initiative but as a proxy destruction of other nations great architecture. In fact, Hitler progressively displayed wilder and wilder tendencies towards destruction.

With this in mind, it is perhaps rather unsurprising that he had destructive influences on the ladies.

On of the most satisfying books to read on Hitler that I have come across is RW Waite, The Psychopathic God Adolf Hitler. Although its probably not the most reliable account of Hitler, its generally rather salacious and fun to read. Waite goes into Hitler's testicles, his abuse as a child, his Oedipus complex and more with a relish that becomes more and more satisfying because you simply love to hate Hitler. Its worth a read.
