Hitlers whole reign was sickening. He believed in a pure race that was perfect, I don't know how he figured this but it was. Plan well thought over maybe, but no matter what it was one of the worst decisions in history.

Well the whole late 19th century/early 20th-post WW I period was one basking in that of pseudo-scientific 'advancements' amongst others the emergence of supposedly racial biology and all that (and the emerging concept of genetic jews which upgraded antisemitism from the christian concept which was somewhat escapable by conversion to a it's-in-your-jew-genes concept and as the nazis applied: you were a jew if you had a jewish ancestor up to 4 generations back). To us the concept seems ridiculous, but in the period often characterised with 'hypernationalism' the legacy of the aforementioned pseudoscientific rrrevelations wasn't that far in the past, on the contrary.

one thing about hitler that seems to be down-played somewhat is his drug addictions. by the end of the war, he was a raging junkie--shooting up pure amphetamines several times a day, along with other drugs which probably included opiates, downers and booze. after you stay up several days in a row from amphetamines--you get truly psychotic, very paranoid and unstable..he wasn't the only one--some of his top officers were also junkies. the nazi's created methadone--a long acting opiate that would keep his officers from going into withdrawals so often. at least that's what i've read..
when i was a detox nurse, we had people come in to get off methadone and they were always the sickest patients i had. some didn't get out of bed for over a week. i can imagine how horrible that would have been if hitler's officers went into w/d's during a battle...
