Oh dang, I forgot about "The Iron Marshal". Davout was pretty outstanding. I shall update my post to "My top 6".

Ney had too much bravery for his own good, but his character is the stuff of legends.

Davout and Lannes will forever in my mind battle for 2nd to Napoleon.

Murat had the kind of flair and dash that made the Napoleonic wars unique, and was considered one of the best cavalrymen the world had ever known.

For me, it is Massena, although Lannes follows very closely behind. Massenas conduct during the siege of Genoa (1800), was the stuff of legend, and allowed Napoleon enough time (as he diverted Austrian forces) to gather his forces, and win the decisive battle of Marengo.

I actually think that Napoleons unfulfilled promise of coming to Massenas aid, was a bad mistake by Napoleon, although the campaign still ended in victory.

Antoine Charles Louis Lasalle, The Hussar General .

The best of them all (pricks), although he was general and not field marshall properly.

He reminds me Rommel, when he captured with 100 men Matajur against an Italian force of over 7000 "men". Lasalle also made fouled his foes like that.

Poniatowski is one i definitely hold a lot of respect for because of his leadership against austria during the 1809 war which he handled entirely on his own with the polish forces since russia did not provide the aid it was supposed to. his bravery and leadership were seen further in the russian invasion and 1813 campaign where he sadly lot his life at Leipzig.

other marshals i hold in high esteem are of course Ney who i am convinced was medically incapable of feeling fear and Desire for his incredible campaign into higher egypt and saving the situation at Marengo. admittedly the man was not technically a marshal yet had he lived longer he would undoubtedly have been made one soon enough.

Mortier, for his humanity, decency and managing to die so interestingly so much later: Bernadotte, or his oppotunism and strong personality: Davout, for his military ability, care for his men and short sight: Massena, for his ability and lechery, wry sense of homour and interesting portraits: Suchet, for his lone capable independent hand.
