Notable history of the vikings

Since my knowledge in this area is very limited; I was hoping a few people could throw some names at me, and give me some areas to study. I'm just starting to learn about the vikings, so I don't know where to begin.

Thank you.

I read this a short time ago. I enjoyed it. It covers the development of Viking warfare, settlement, religion and archeology.

One of my favourite books on the subject is The Vikings by Else Roesdahl. Not oo much jargon, covers all the basics, but has enough information that I still learned some things, even though I already knew quite a bit about the Norse.

Online sources preferably. I want topics I can study right now without the need for books yet.

However, I will write down any suggested books and look at them at a later date.

Do some research on the character known as ''Rollo the Viking''. He led the invasions into Normandy, France, and was soon appointed ruler while agreeing to convert to Christianity. Interesting how things ended up developing after that in the region.
