Empty churches in Europe now and historically.

Is not it time to return to the faith. Remember terms like morality, honor, respect for the other as to himself.
Faith in the Balkans helped the survival of nations.
Can Europe again be a major factor leading the world with a stronger faith and morals.
The market economy leads to faith only to money. In crisis and lack of money in what we believe?

In making more money.
The act of worship stays the same wether we talk about religious icons or IPhones. I doubt religion will help the ''survival of nations'' in the Balkans, seeing as it already divided much of it. Maybe society projects and encompassing national identities will be more promising.

Morality, honor and respect are not dependent on religion or faith. But on a person's character.

Obviously, since churches are being abandoned, here in the states as well as in the Balkans, religion has been perceived as not meeting the needs of the people they served.

I think this thread belongs in Religion.

I thought this would be a discussion of religious architecture in Europe which is, in fact, a topic of intense interest to me.

The topic is from architectures of religious to architecture of personal morality. How in the historical perspective that led to the prosperity of Europe from spiritual to moral.

In what possible reality is this true? Faith was a good thing in the balkans?

The title made it seem like a thread on ruins and abandoned buildings.

I misunderstood.

The problem with the OP is that it makes it sound as if religion is the only place to find what is needed as per the following quote:

"Is not it time to return to the faith. Remember terms like morality, honor, respect for the other as to himself. "

I will not start a debate on how religion has none of these qualities but will instead ask why you think you need religion to find these? Is it not possible that these are simply virtuous qualities that should be something we wish to attain as a society or even as a culture? If your culture deems it as proper and noble to look after your elders or to look after the sick then are you not accomplishing your goal? Both of these are real examples that can exist outside of any theology or religious dogma but in secular societies as well.

Sure, Europe will spearhead the world in the upcoming biggest ''religion'' called Atheism.
