Who was 16th century leading world power?

My candidates are:
-Spain
-Portugal
-Ottoman Empire
-Ming Dynasty China

Portugal was number 1 naval superpower until sometime in the 16th century Spain took the lead. Portugal had spice monopoly, Spain had American gold. Ottoman Empire was threatening Christian Europe. So which country,kingdom,empire,... was the 16th century leading world power?

Certainly it must be the Empire of Charles V of Habsburg, Holy Roman and Spanish Emperor.

China was the leading world economic power. Most of the gold and silver mined in the new world eventually found its way to China to buy the goods the Chinese produced. China had no need for goods from Europe.

Spain, undoubtedly. Although, really and truly, it should be the Hapsburg Family.

I concur with the majority...The global leadership of Spain became even more undisputed with the creation of the Iberian Union in 1580

Why is Sicily not considered a Spanish possession?
