It is to bad Marie Antoinettes memory had to be pooped on by that horrible movie by Sofia Coppela.....
I haven't seen it yet...............is it really that bad?? I almost don't want to see it cos she's likely to have been played with an American accent (not that there's anything wrong with an American accent ) but she was an Austrian Queen of France for goodness sake !!!!
Yep. I suppose I should watch it before being critical but I just had a peek at a clip of it from the link you posted and Marie Antoinette has an American accent
She was THE trend-setter back in the day. As Queen of France what she wore, her hairstyles etc. were copied not only by her own courtiers but at other European courts. Maybe you're right AL_C0 that they were trying to make her more "hip" for teenagers but I've been told there are many inaccuracies in the film, which although sympathetic to her, kind of reinforces the negative image that many people still have of her.
I am no scholar on Marie Antoinette, but I am pretty sure she did not say things like "omg" and "lets check our facebook" man I hate kids/rap music/skateboarding on the sidewalk.
Marie Antionette was definitely a trendsetter..when she started being less formal at court with her attire..she was criticized by the French Court...she actually hated all of the pomp of the Court...all of the protocol...she actually cut back on alot of her own and her family's court costs by doing away with alot of the duties..the movie does touch on that..the sad thing was that she was kind of damned if she did and damned if she didn't...So I do admire her..she has just gotten a bad rep throughout history...
The movie was quite terrible.
1. Kirsten Dunst cannot play a historical character.
2. It was totally uninteresting.
3. They missed out a whole bunch of unimportant events.
4. The ways of Versailles was totally misinterpreted.
5. They spend 20 minutes of the movie trying on Prada shoes or something.
