Interesting, but not as odd as you might think. I was once doing my part in a three-way translation service for a Spanish-only-speaking relative on a bus in Cardiff: people were nearly falling out of their seats in nosiness, but all the Cymraeg-speakers could understand the Chubut Cymraes translator's 'Welsh' accent, because they laughed at the jokes!
