Spanish conquest of a larger part of the americas is more correct. There was many more european powers involved in partition of Africa, and it happened in most parts of Africa later, in the 19.th century(though colonisation on a small scale started earlier, even before the Americas was known by europeans), in a time where Spanish America was for the most part belonging to the past. In much of Africa European rule lasted short, and there was little impact of european migration except in a minor part of the African continent. European languages, culture and religion did not become as dominant in Africa as on the other side of the Atlantic. Less european pressence in Africa, though parts of it are so much closer measured in kilometres or miles.
