Question Criminals that changed the world for the better

I was reading this very juvenile story about people who changed the world for the better from inside jail, and wondered who else spent a lot of time in jail and then changed the world for the better.

I'm going to add my own obvious submissions, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and Gandhi.

And disqualify Hitler, for my own subjective belief that he did not change the world for the "better."

Anyone else have any good ones?

Did Emmeline Pankhurst actually spend time in jail, or was her sentence commuted?

Nelson Mandela spent a while in prison.

He's been out for 20 years now and still hasn't re-offended.

Living proof rehabilitation can work.

Well, if we can count criminals who were never officially imprisoned...Jesus and Julius Caesar both come to mind...
