Good luck on finding any objective biography or history on South America, particularly on so controversial and so recent a character as Pinochet. I once asked a Venezuelan friend of mine for a good objective bio of Simon Bolivar. She said there weren't any: he's thought of either as a saint or the devil.
I suspect it's the same with Pinochet except worse, in that Bolivar has been dead for close to 200 years so the controversies should have abated.
It'll probably follow the Franco pattern Firstly everything written was from his point of view. Then for a period after his death he was the devil for about 25 years and everything was completely written from the other side. Now it's a bit more objective and sensible, with all points of view.
Just depends on which phase Pinochet is in right now!!
