I believe John was also the name the church and European monarchies gave Genghis Khan early on when he was laying waste to the "infidel" Khwarezm empire and surrounding regions, believing he was a legendary Nestorian priest or bishop. "Nestor John", maybe? Not exactly sure of that, but John was used.

among Hungarian monarchs the most frequent names were:

Ladislaus (László) 5 times but if we count it together with Vladislaus (Ulászló) then 7 times. But the two names are counted separately despite its from the same Slavic Vladislav name.
Stephen 5 times (all from Arpad dynasty)
Ferdinand 5 times (all Habsburgs)
Bela 4 times (all Arpadian)
Charles 4 times
Andrew 3 times (all Arpadian)
Geza 2 times but there was also a chieftain with that name so he is the 3rd. (all Arpadian)

The rest of the kings had names that occured only 1-2 times (we also had 2 king Johns btw ).
