I was not aware that any of the Hohenzollerns today want to be back on the throne. They are quite happy without it. Quote:
I do not see any reason for the political system in Germany to be changed.
And I am very happy — probably happier than many of my forebears.
I have as head of the House of Hohenzollern no political role — and neither do I aim at such. | - Georg Friedrich, Prince of Prussia current head of the House of Hohenzollern | | |

He should have taken better care of it in the first place.
And anyway, I don't hold with all that Popishness.

I don't mind if they're restored to their throne because if they were they would essentially be a figure, so it doesn't matter. I don't take it seriously. Frankly, I don't think they do either. I have a claim to lands in Cork and Kerry that belonged to my family in the 16th century, but that doesn't mean I'm going to start a rebellion to get it back. It's just something intresting to say at dinner partys. I think that's how they think of it too.

Jeroen, sorry to butt in this thread, but I did some research for you about a question from you in the Habsburg thread. Cheers, Paul.

Living in the past for sure. Keeping track of whose who in the "royal" line is quite nice and doesn't hurt anyone, but if these people actually think of the themselves as kings then they're very delluded. Their valued ancestors should probably have tried harder when they had it.

The rightful king, as history shows, is the one who gets crowned and hangs on to both his head and his crown.
The very notion of monarchy is an afront to the dignity of man. If people want a man in a funny hat who they can cheer, why not bring back court jesters ?

When sitting on my lawn tractor I am King of All I Survey, until my wife comes home.
