Leaders Loved by the Common People

What Kings, Queens, Leaders of all types, have been loved by the common people on a grand scale?

Off the top of my head:

Cyrus the Great was loved by the Persians.

Julius Caesar was not loved by all the Senate, of course, but he seems to have been loved by the common people - his policies were very populist. Same for Augustus at the end of his reign. Constantine seems to have been loved as well, at least in the Eastern Empire.

Alexander the Great was loved by the Macedonians, though he spent most of his short reign abroad.

Isabella and Ferdinand were loved in Spain - other than the Jews and Muslims.

Queen Victoria was loved by the English.

George Washington was loved by the Americans, and as far as widespread love by the general public, I suppose you could say Eisenhower and possibly Reagan were as well.

Thomas Sankara, a personal hero of mine. Probably the greatest african leader of all time, he called for the African nations to unite and become self-sufficient. Was killed for his ideas.

I was a baby when he was president, I remember him being a pretty popular guy though. Presided over the longest economic expansion in American history.

Arguably one of the best and most respected conservative presidents, I may not agree with some of the things he did but he had balls and I can't take that away from him.

Nasser to this day remains a symbol of Arab Unity, Popular and charismatic. Brought the Arab World the closest it had ever been to unity.

Winston Churchill was loved by the British people. He had a larger than life personality and was a great war leader. He made mistakes, the campaign in Galipoli being the prime example, but he was one of the few characters who was actually worthy of a state funeral.

Depends, what do you mean by "on a grand scale"?

Washington, Jefferson & Franklin

Nero and Caracalla were both very popular with the Roman plebians (which reveals the apparently vast constrast between the perspectives of the commoners and the senatorial writers of history in the Roman Empire).

Charles II and Victoria for the UK.

I was just going to say Nero, but Salah pipped me to it!

Funnily enough, I intend to learn a lot more about Nero, I find him fascinating and want to read about more than his stereotype.
