A Revolutionary Idea

Well we have all heard that saying "soldiers should get paid as much as sport stars" but as we know, they cannot, for they are funded by the government and sports are private industrys, these sport industry get alot of their money (which they use to pay the athletes) by people buying their products, watching them live etc.

So what if the defence force was to set up perhaps a online website were you would view what the soldier viewed (a helmet cam or something???) and you had to pay by credit card to subscribe to view it? they could sell it on dvds? this would generate alot of additional income and help the defence budget and could raise the soldiers pay considerable.

Of course special forces units and what not would not be viewable, perhaps people could even pay to go out to militarized zones in person ?

War as entertainment? Well for those at home it already is. How many people think about Faces of the Fallen - The Washington Post . War has always been entertainment for those that do not fight, heroic paintings, parades etc. Now we have video games etc. Perhaps what you mention is simply the next step and not so radical a suggestion.
Sure, I'll support it. Who am I to slow the inevitable march of history?

Real life, real drama...

There are already plenty of documentaries made about the lives of soldiers. Many don't make it because they're not exciting enough. Many soldiers just stand watch most of the time waiting for something to happen. These long hours may be interrupted by a few moments of terror, but having a constant view of what the soldiers are seeing probably wouldn't sell. It might also be used by the enemy, since they could either view the website or be told what was there by others.

Brilliant! However . . .

Help the defense budget? Why? Governments already have taxpayers to pay for their military. No, this glorious idea should be used as a new source of revenue for the military industrial complex, because they're the ones who really deserve more money. We want war to be ever more profitable, after all.

"We've always been at war with Eastasia."
