would the world be advanced if there was never any wars? to the best of my knowledge, most technology breakthroughs throughout history have been made by the military or for military purposes, eg, the internet.

It would in fact be less advanced. Wars encourage quick and alot of innovations and inventions.

I don't give war all the credit as the mother of invention. Often the military
takes things there were not designed for war, and uses them.
Take away war and mankind still creates those inventions and if nations
were not fighting, maybe then all those great scientific minds could strike
in unison to create inventions never before dreamt.

Competition is an engine of development, but when competition goes overboard, like in the case of a wide war, it can generate opposite effects. Note that WW II caused the temporary stop of the evolution of European society. Without WW II [and WW I] Europe would still represent the world leading group of powers.
This said, wars can act is catalyst for advancement, but more in the phase of preparation that in the moment that the war explodes.

Many modern inventions come from innovations made in the 2nd World War and the Cold War.
Radar --------> Microwaves
B-2 Bomber --------> Car Navigation
Minuteman Ballistic Missile ---------> Circuitry
Rationing ---------> Tinned Goods
Sad, but true.

Sad, but true. | True, i guess, but did the military also school the great minds that came up with the principles behind those technologies?
As far as i know wars send young men to their graves, not to school.

The only reason that keeps nations from developing is war. While lots of inventions are made to help the war, still the econimic effects are huge. If people could have just built their countries in peace trough all the history the world would be much more advanced.

Would you trade your consumer goods for an end to war?

I think it would definitely be less advanced as war has fueled peoples for millennia to innovate.
