I'm in high school, so I have some time, but although I know archaeology is something I'd love to do, I am clueless as to how I'm to get there. I don't know what courses in college I will have to take, that's one of the main problems. The immediate problem is something I need to know, stupid question incoming, is it even possible to make a living doing just this? This wasn't a last minute decision, as I have known I wanted to do this for years. I should have started gathering information a long time ago. If my assumptions are correct, assuming I do get this job, I will have to get a secondary job as well. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have the same question. Though I'd also like to be a historian also.

Could the OP increase his chances by helping at a dig site for free in his summer holidays? Maybe get a digger qualification or something else complimentary as well?

I majored in Archaeology, Anthropology, and History while in college. I dropped to just a History major because of the wonderful, arrogant professors I had in the Arch/Anthro department.
Anyway, you need to check out college and universities that have good programs in archaeology or anthropology.
Here's the University of North Carolina's major requirements in archaeology http://archaeology.unc.edu/Degrees/Major.html | | |

I want to be an archeologist as well, or at least have a profession that works with relics of the past.

I would have loved to be an historian, however in face of near certain unemployment I followed Engineering. Not that I don't like it but it's not the same thing.
