2011 Salmonella Outbreak

Google Map of The 2011 Distribution of Salmonella: A Case Study

This map tracks the mislabeling of "broiled chicken livers" and chopped liver from the food processor to the reseller (supermarket, butcher, caterer) or directly to a retirement home and/or summer camp, that made 190 people sick and sent 21 people to the hospital. It is an interesting hisorical account indicating the cities involved in five states, the type of business involved in the food chain, where the reseller is located, and how it affected communities with a large Jewish population that is served by a heavy concentration of resellers serving that community.
