Here is the link for Google book search http://books.google.co.uk/bkshp?hl=en&tab=wp
The problem with Google books is that not all of the text is available on line, it is more of a service to get you interested into buying the book under study. That said it is an easy way to get hold of the latest literature.
Yes Gile na Gile I have found Intute very helpful, as well as Jstor, but as I am no longer a student Jstor is out of my reach, but I did down load plenty of articles of interest before my library card ran out.

Perhaps this thread should be moved up to being a sticky so it doesn't disappear off the bottom of the screen?

"British History Online is the digital library containing some of the core printed primary and secondary sources for the medieval and modern history of the British Isles. Created by the Institute of Historical Research and the History of Parliament Trust, we aim to support academic and personal users around the world in their learning, teaching and research."
This is the Mecca of primary sources for researching British history.

A project of mine, mostly for quick daily tidbits of history for iPhone users, Today In History.
Sidenote: If you're a history buff and you see something missing you can add events easily, so it's win/win.
