What will they teach about our generation 1000 years from now?

I think Athur C. Clark wrote that in 1,000 years, the only thing they'll teach about us is our landing on the moon.

But is that really all they could teach about us?

How about the computer?
How about the internet?
How about Nuclear weapons?

Will WWI, WWII and the Cold war slip into the obscurity of just another war?

What will they remember about us 1,000 years ago?

I think one would have to think in broader strokes than normally.
-In one thousand years there will still be countries and hierarchical structure of command.
-A few our our stories will still be read, but more would have been forgotten.
-Our present internet will be viewed as slow and restrictive as we view movable print today.
-Our science will be seen as uninformed as the early Middle Ages medicine is to us.
-Our wars will be studied for all their short sited immediate goals much as we view the Crusades.
-Our most grand buildings will still be recognizable as city skylines are always changing. But a lot of information as to who built them will be long lost as our future humans will wonder how could people be so wasteful in building a limited structure.
-All our great wars that we think are so important, will be no more important to the future historians as we view Song's moving the capital of China to Hangzhou. The names of the major players will still be read about, but not so greatly studied.
-And lastly, people in the future will wonder why the Statue of Liberty was taken down & replaced with the 100 foot tall Obama statue.

Well, they'll have a better knowledge of us than we have of people back in, say, the 12th century. I guess there will be no shortage of REAL history then either.

im a tad pessimistic but i think in 1000 years humanity will not exist in the state where it can look into the past - either because humanity is not there or it has regressed to a state where history is not valued above say survival.

I honestly don't think our time era will be remembered so much. Sure, we're seeing a lot of technological developments, but there will always be technological developments. World War II might be remembered as an important war, but no moreso than the Napoleonic Wars. Other than that, I don't see much to remember over a 1,000 year timespan. A bunch of endless small wars, minor spineless politicians and leaders who have leapt straight out of an Ayn Rand book.

It's interesting to us, but 1,000 years of history added on top of it? I just don't see it as being all that important.

In 1000 years, kids will probably be saying things like

"And they used to die of old age! Can you believe it? They were so stooopid, they didn't even have immortality!"

"Can you believe they couldn't grow new limbs or change shape? And they stayed the same sex their entire lives! That's weird!"

"They didn't have cyborg brain technology! They had to think with neurons, just like animals do! Eew!"

and...

"Hey, Borgon 25 and Cyclon 227, check this out! There was this evil overlord named Bill, Dark Lord of Redmond, who ruled the world until an apple-grower and a penguin led a rebellion to liberate humanity!"

I suppose in a thousand years machinekind will look upon this age with the same amused condecending attitude we have towards Neanderthals.

This era will only be remembered for the bad things that happen, 9/11, iraq war, north korea, etc. (not saying north korea itself is a bad thing, but it's actions as of late)
