Any thoughts on this author?

I first read "Gates of Fire", which I liked very much. I heard that Fox brought the right for a movie, but was slow on making it, and after "300" the project lost attractiveness. Which is sad. Among other reasons, because George Clooney was to play Leonidas. The author clearly has vivid imagination, although in the history of agela he steps far from historic evidence. As to "Tides of War", the beginning was great, but the book became watery towards the middle, and I barely made it to the end. I think it was too long, perhaps he was paid per page.
