Thank you
I dont like e-books
NYC has a very large library system
But I'd probably purchase the book,
though I may "preview" it eletronicaly
or from the library.

Any topic/time/subject is fine.

Though I don't generally read fiction, Shelby Foote is very highly regarded for The Civil War: A Narrative. Additionally, Michael Shaara has written historical novels about many eras.

I have enjoyed lately Ken Follet's "Pillars of the Earth" and "World without end".

I liked several of James Michener's books.

I liked Exodus by Leon Uris, but my daughter absolutely loved it when she was in the ninth grade.

I loved Pillars of the Earth, but any of Folletts other novels about the same time turned me off. So I haven't read World without End.

Another book that everyone in my circle liked was Iain Pears An Instance of the Fingerpost. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to someone called Robert, though.

But then, my name's Robert and I liked it.
