That probably would be the ideal, but it depends much of the timeline.

For instance, a well known British historical fiction writer, like Bernard Cornwell needs to use much more fiction in a book like Stonehenge, then in kings Arthur novel, then in
a Napoleonic novel, or a American Civil War novel.

The level of knowledge about these periods is completely different. He needs to be much more accurate about the 19th century, than about the Early Medieval period, or the Pre-history.
