At The River's End - A New Novel

Hi all! I've been researching and writing an historical novel for several years now about French explorers in the late 1600's and have finally got it where I think I want it. It's available free online and if any of you are interested in checking it out I have the synopsis and link below. I'd love to hear any thoughts or comments you might have. Thanks!!

In 1669 France's interests in the New World were in jeopardy. West of the small frontier town of Montreal was a primeval frontier, a place where only the most adventurous dared travel. A place from which many never returned. This was where the lifeblood of New France, their fur trade, came, and the traders in those furs were slowly disappearing.

There were legends of beasts and demons of the night that roamed those forests, hell bent on removing any outsiders who dared enter, and those stories had kept most away.

This is the story of the first group of explorers who ventured into that wilderness to solve the mystery. The French militia that made up the bulk of the expedition believed it was hostile natives, the priests who went with them feared it was Satan's grasp on the land, and the explorer who led them was convinced that whatever the case he was destined to find the legendary shortcut to China.

What really waited for them they would find at the river's end.
