Books about late medieval/renaissance artillery?

I'm looking to read up more on gunpowder artillery between ca. the 14th-16th centuries, can anyone recommend some good books? Something that could go in to both the technical details as well as the history of their deployment and evolution? Land or naval pieces are both of interest to me in this regard, and I'm primarily interested in western Europe but also a few of the East Asian states around the same time for comparison (mainly China, Japan, and Korea).
Imo the period in question was fascinating with regards to gunpowder artillery development. I've done a bit of reading on some of the 'superguns' of the medieval period as well as hand-cannons, but overall medieval/renaissance artillery is a topic I could definitely stand to learn more on.

People have mixed opinions on Joseph Needham and his Science and Civilisation in China series, but the installment on gunpowder and gunpowder weapons (vol. 5 part 7: The Gunpowder Epic) is a pretty thorough look at the subject. It focuses on China obviously, but he also includes plenty of comparisons with European firearms and gunpowder weapons from outside of China. Lots of illustrations too.

Good question. I am searching for a similar book.

Recently, I think that following some tips here in the forum, I found a Dr. Tonio Andrade (Tonio Andrade), that wrote this book:

"The Gunpowder Age: China, Military Innovation, and the Rise of the West"

https://www.amazon.com/Gunpowder-Age.../dp/0691135975

I didn’t read the book, but I watch is lecture here:

Some parts of his reasoning seem to jump forward. Maybe the book is better than the lecture, but in the lecture he wasn’t convincing enough for me to buy the book.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention Tulius.

By the way I just ordered a copy of this book, which looks like it could provide some answers on this topic for anyone else interested: Link
