Champlain's Dream

I feel obligated to come here and recommend this book.

[ame="http://www.amazon.ca/Champlains-Dream-David-Hackett-Fischer/dp/030739767X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310156698&sr=8-1"]Champlain's Dream: Amazon.ca: David Hackett Fischer: Books[/ame]

Champlain's Dream is excellent. It is interesting, academic, even with an index. Picking it up I expected it to be the typical academic bore I read for research essays but the man knows how to write. It reads like a novel. I looked forward to seeing where Champlain's adventures would go next.

If you are interested in Samuel de Champlain, New France/Quebec, the New World, exploration, or colonization, then this book is a must have. Highly recommended.
