Recommend me a book on Colonial America

I'm looking for a broad overview of the English Colonies of America. Jamestown and ending with the American Revolution preferably but whatever is good. Thanks!

Most of the books I have are about before, during or after the American
Revolution. Sorry cannot help on this one.

How about a history textbook? They are quite expensive, though. I should know.

This seems to be the highest rated on Amazon:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/American-Colonies-Settling-America-Penguin/dp/0142002100/"]Amazon.com: American Colonies: The Settling of North America (The Penguin History of the United States, Volume1) (Hist of the USA) (9780142002100): Alan Taylor: Books@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51tIGQZXmGL.@@AMEPARAM@@51tIGQZXmGL[/ame]

But personally, I think this one sounds more interesting - I don't know if it's what you're looking for though:

I have the same problem researching Colonial America. Although dated I found the first few volumes of Elroy McKendree Avery A History of the United States and Its People most helpful.
