South American Wars Recommendations
Yes, another thread asking for recommendations. My eccentric and impulsive reading urges have suddenly pushed me into curiosity about South American Wars (mostly 19th Century).
For all of my historical background (familiarity with European, African, American and Asian history) I know absolutely nothing about South America.
Basically, I know that some wars for independence happened in the early 1800s. Then there's a big void in my knowledge bank until the second half of the 20th Century.
I know there were some wars in between those points, including a Tripartite War in the 1880s, I think. Can anyone recommend me any books on individual wars or general surveys of the military history of the region? They don't to be specifically military history and I would actually prefer they cover political events and social movements as well. Maybe up until the 1920s or so?
Also, if anyone has any good recommendations on Mexican conflicts during the 19th century and up to the Revolution I would appreciate that as well.
