American Colonies

Hello,

I just finished my AP European History class and now am taking AP US History. Our required summer reading is titled 'American Colonies.' I havne't heard much of it, but know that it's won a Pullitzer. What are your opinions.

I really enjoyed Stephen Ambrose's work, and also read 1776 in 4 days (great book).

Re: American Colonies

If the book is "American Colonies, the Settling of North America" by Alan Taylor, then I've heard only great things about the book. Hope it's the one & good luck with your course.

Great, that's good news. I'm excited but I doubt it will be as exciting as European History was.

For me, except for small sliver of time, European History doesn't hold my interest-But, that's just me.

I'm surprised, but I respect that.

I have a passion for European History, some American history and military history. Everything else doesn't really interest me.

Re: American Colonies

US history is essentially European history, from the old world to the new, a heritage of our European ancestors.
