Most people around here don't speak Finnish (well, I think it's finnish)
I think the title would read something like "The military history of Finland" in English. Just a guess though.

It's actually called ''The History of the Finnish Soldier''

War and Peace. Yes it is a work of fiction overlaid onto a history lesson but it changed the way I think about how history unfolds.

Good Wives- Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
An incredibly well written book that challenges the ideas we have about "traditional" roles for women. I won't spoil anything but this is a must read.

The Name of War- Jill Lapore
This is fantastic. It offers incredible insight and perspective about the MONUMENTAL King Philip's War that is some how overlooked. THE watershed moment in Native American history AND in New England society at large.

Champlain's Dream- David Fischer
I don't normally champion works that are not purposing a Thesis BUT Samuel de Champlain is an overlooked figure in the history of North America and French history.

Champlain's Dream by David Hackett Fisher is my all time favourite.

i really enjoyed Guns Of August, The Crimean War by Orlando Figes,A Dual of Giants (the origions of the Prussian Franco war) by David Wetzel and many more but i truly have enjoyed Maximilian and Juarez by Jasper Ridley the most. its a truly tragic story from beganing to end.
