Well I just finished 1/3.
Shmuel is imho a brilliant mind, so brilliant that in the beginning is quite hard to read for so many technicalities (if you're an expert on Sociology that shouldn't be a problem).
I found very interesting he's theory that modern civilizations are distinguish between Axial and non-axial and how he states that Axial civilizations had all of them religious bases.
Also, he theorizes about Revolutions, a very interesting subject (I will not spoil it here).
I'm now entering on his particular case studies.
You should defenitly read this book.
