haven't read (but own his Spanish Civil War book) but really enjoyed the battle of Galatas and the stand of the NZ petrol company and their 'axillaries' is an epic out of a comic book.

There is a lot of good quality Chinese language scholarship. A lot of worthless stuff too, but still. I have quite a few books from Nankai University Press which are honestly invaluable - some of the best I own.
