Can you imagine Rex Harrison battling against the Gauls? In a silk dressing-gown no doubt. To tell the truth, I can't remember being particularly struck by any portrayal of Caesar (though I do rather like the way in which Charles Gray - another unlikely candidate - plays him in the BBC Shakespeare series).

mr. hands--hands down! i thought he really did look like caesar and i loved that series--got my boxed set as soon as it came out on dvd!

Ciaran Hinds. He may be physically very different to the authentic Gaius Julius Caesar but he really managed to get into Caesar's skin and therefore represented his character very well.
