The Battle of Algiers - Historum

Has anybody else seen this film? I think it's brilliant but I don't know much about the history. What are people thoughts on all fronts?

Yes, a great movie - Giles Pontecorvo was the director, I think, if my memory serves me right. For a film made in the sixties, it gives a remarkably balanced appraisal of the Algerian independance movement. The DVD comes as 3-disc set which has alot of bonus material, including interviews with the director and documentaries about the troubles in French north africa - well worth it. In the post-9/11 world, it is an exceptionally poignant film.

Agreed. It's probably the best packaging of any of my DVDs.
