Actually, I liked Blade Runner as much as I did the novel(Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick). Each was very excellent in their own way.

I've seen c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in the rain. Time to die." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeDjO...eature=related | Pretty much everything in that movie is inscribed in my brain, notably the climate modified, rainy Los Angeles and its crowded Asian streets, and Hauer's exit. Great stuff. If you have not seen it, be sure to check out the "Final Cut". The last time I had seen the movie before the most recent version, it had a cheesy voice-over narration that didn't work. Apparently Scott never wanted that, but it was forced on him by the studio which somehow thought that audiences wouldn't understand the move. The final cut takes that out and goes back to Scott's original preferences.

But the movie I think he did that was the most perfect was 1492 Conquest of Paradise. A powerful movie and an excellent cast.
Close second to Black Hawk Down.

My personal favourite is Black Hawk Down followed closely by Gladiator and followed not so closely by Blade Runner

There's no doubt that Gladiator is a very good film, but the fact that it was a remake - and therefore not entirely original - detracts signficantly from its appeal.

Gladiator had me annoyed... "But you're the fricken EMPEROR! And Roman Emperors were fairly homicidal at the best of times, and you are a particularly homicidal Emperor. So, THUMBS DOWN, okay? Just kill him."
Bladerunner was his finest moment for sure.
