Any Good Films About 1066 and The Battle Of Hastings?

Hi! I, as some may know am completely fascinated by the norman conquest and i was just wondering if anyone knew of any good films or DVD's about it? I have searched for some time, and I knew that if there was such a film then the guys at Historum would know about it.

I admire the Normans, too! Although I haven't seen the films, there's a few links to at least three recent (90's) films about 1066 and William I on Imdb

I couldn't provide the links I'd prepared because I'm a newbie!

Thank you all very much for your replies. I have just watched the one made by channel 4! It was very enjoyable. It has also enlightened me to a fact! I share the same birthday date as the battle of Fulford- the 20th of September.

I really hope this works for you but I have a bad feeling you may not get it if you aren't from the UK and Ireland...

It was mentioned earlier and is very good!

So far only one english language verison of 1066 story.

So far there is only one TV mini series/documentary made about the Norman conquest. That was 1066 made in 2009.
My review of it is here. "1066" Reviews & Ratings - IMDb

There was talk of an adaptation of Helen Hollicks excellent book Harold The King. But don't go by IMDb websites advert with Robin Jacob as director, as this version looks like it will never get off the ground.

I personally think that the 1066/Godwin story should be made in the style of a HBO series like Game of Thrones or Rome. That way this complex story could be given the treatment it deserves.

That would be awesome, I love Helen Hollick! But you're right, I won't get my hopes up.

I remember there was nice French-Romanian-Swiss movie made in early 80ties "William the Conqueror" - "Guillaume le conquérant" - "Cucerirea Angliei" aka "Wilhelm Cuceritorul"
