Looking forward to it - but again, will have to wait for the series to come out on DVD.

Sorry to say I found it boring.

Showtime was hoping for something as good as The Tudors but it wasn't. IMO the BBC TV show "The Borgias" was better.

I'm with you on that...coupled with the "background" music... I'm lucky if I catch half the dialogue.

Poly - trouble is - the BBC version is unavailable on DVD - I even sent in an email to them requesting that they release it in conjunction with the Showtime version - nil response from them I'm afraid.

If anyone has a copy of this on DVD let me know - please.

i finally got to see season one and it was great! i had to wait until it was on youtube but i loved it! i was surprised how they portrayed lucrezia--i was expecting her to be a bit of a bad girl, just from what i've read about her. maybe in season 2. all the actors did a great job. i'll probably order the dvd's soon...

Lucrezia in the series is adorable, precious!
The actress who plays Lucrezia is Holliday Grainger - and she does angsty teenager very well. Don't worry kbear, there's 3 more seasons to see how naughty she can get!

IMHO pope Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia) wasnt bad guy. He was tollerant towards Jews and tried to limit the witchcraft hounting in Europe.

He condemned the book written by two dominican monks and inqusitors "Hammer of Witches" and often canceled verdicts in trials of witchcraft. When the Portuguese King Manuel wanted to baptise Jews in his country by force, the pope Alexander VI forced him to give up this idea.

Its a good show but I'm fed up with Brits playing Italian and Spanish characters, it is just unrealistic and inauthentic. The whole HBO Rome was spoiled for me because of this very reason. Blond skinny guys playing Roman centurions, give me a break!

Arranging to loosen her husband's saddle so he falls off his horse and breaks his leg and then having an affair with the stable boy isn't bad enough for you? lol.

I've never really seen her as a "bad girl". She was mostly a pawn of her father/brother which is how they are portraying her at the moment. The only "bad" thing we know for sure that she did was have affairs which in my opinion is quite understandable in times of arranged marriages.
