It sounds like a great subject for a film. It falls right into the man of destiny/action bio he likes to make, and does so well.

Personal views aside, Gibson is a good director. I enjoy most films he made, except the Passion.

Whoelse, like me, really look forward to see the Jewish Temple?

I guess I'll see the film,it will probably be quite good as entertainment taken on face value..

I didn't say he wasn't a good director(and even better actor) However, I think it's also been pretty well established that he is a good director, good actor AND an anti-Semitic bigot. I can't help but feel a little cynical about his motive in making a movie about Jewish heroes.

Not sure if he really belted his girlfriend, but,he's an alcoholic who keeps busting, so it sounds about right - I'm a recovering alkie,(10 years sober) and know a LOT of drunks, through AA.

I think it's interesting that many anti-Semites are actually quite fascinated by the ancient Jews. Hitler, for example.

I didn't know about these. But I just go to enjoy a good movie and not think about much else.

Judas Maccabaeus perfectly fits Mr. Gibson's world-view. He was, after all, a Jew who started a war ...

Catholics consider the Church the new Israel. They consider the Old Testament Jews to be spiritual ancestors. It is the Talmudists who have nothing in common with Judah.

It is appropriate that a Christian, and not a Talmudist, direct a film about the Maccabees.
