I think The Pianist would be a strong contender for most accurate historical movie. The film not only adheres very closely to the real life memoirs of pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman, but is very faithful both in letter and in spirit to the larger history of Poland and the Jews of Poland during WWII. There are liberties taken, but nothing that seriously distorts the viewer's understanding of Szpilman's story or the Holocaust.

Yes, IMO it levels with Schindlers List.

Has anyone seen Lincoln yet? I think it was one of Spielberg's best in a long time, probably since Schindler's List.

The film was brilliant.. I loved every minute of it. A very powerfully told story, about an horrific feature of the war.

I've seen that film labelled under a few genres, but never "historically acurate"

I'd go for Cross of Iron... it may not be as recent, but it is very well done. It is most certainly NOT your typical World War II movie.
