The Diary of Anne Frank anime

I thought this might be of interest to some people:
The Diary of Anne Frank (movie) - Anime News Network

I'm trying to get a hold of it to see what it's like.

Given Japans sweetly maladjusted love affair with the Nazis and SS uniforms (and you try telling Japanese kids its not a cool look like Pokemon or magic girls, yeesh!) i can see this going horribly wrong.

Honestly, they seem to think its cosplay until someone slaps them!

Mind you somebody also ought to slap the journalist hard, theyre Wehrmach panzer uniforms, for some unknown reason with red waffenfarbe which would make them some sort of panzer artillery. Why exactly the guy at the back has a soviet Admirals hat with wehrmacht insignia on it is beyond me?

I can't say I've noticed a huge amount of interest in Nazi-style uniforms in Japanese pop-culture, but it's understandable that they don't understand the significance. WW2 in general, and Europe in particular aren't exactly subjects that are well taught in Japan, the former because of Japan's own atrocities and the latter because it's not a subject of interest.

Prince Harry would love it over there.

Having said that, I've certainly read a few manga where the Nazis pop up as villains. The age-old fallback of authors, when you run out of ideas, throw some Nazis in.

A part all, it's at least amazing to note like they mix Nazi with Elvis [look at the head of hair]
