Glad I could cause your curiosity molecules to get excited enough
to look it up. I have the same effect on my students.

I also didn't know he was the only of the first 5 to not be elected.
Yes. Considering of the first seven presidents, the only two not elected to
a second term were both named Adams. Then, if you really want to scope
out the next presidents after Jackson, they were all one term men till Lincoln.

TJ - Good info. I'm sympathetic to him probably because of the series but I would bet that most of them were pompous if not all. Jefferson came off that way too IMO but he stole the show - BALLIN!! haha.
Thanks. Considering the great majority of the Founding Fathers were more
wealthy than the average citizen, and were used to getting their way,
putting them all together to mingle and work out compromises was
asking a lot.

Cool what grade do you teach and is it only history? And I also assume they were more intelligent than the normal person which would also give them a better than thou personality

You didn't know I am a teacher? Oh.

I've taught 6th-12th grades in Texas, US and World History.
I've taught those grades World Geography, Government/Economics,
Computer, Yearbook, a dash of Math and a dash of Spanish.
I've been Dean of Boys and I've coached softball, baseball and volleyball.
I"ve been in the education field for the past 20 years.
Every year I say I'm done, burned out, but, I always re-enlist.
A lot depends on the grade coming up; I teach in a private school and
the students have to have certain credits to graduate. Sometimes they
already have certain classes taken when they come to my school.

Dang that's pretty cool. I may have seen it mentioned earlier but no I don't know anything about anyone on this board lol. I thought about teaching but it's not really what I want to do. Btw is HBO making any other good shows like this anytime soon?

Teaching isn't for everyone. Purely knowing stats, or dates or even being an
expert in a field, isn't enough to be a teacher. It takes so so much more than
just knowledge. Anyway..
I don't know about HBO or those other premium channels. I have HBO, Showtime and a few others, but I just casually glance at the movies and await the season premier of
"Dexter"

Lol I need to give it a chance. My roommate loves it. Tried Breaking Bad ep. 1 and couldnt get into it. I LOVE weeds on showtime. Eastbound and down. and John Adams. I have started band of brothers and then moving on to The Pacific but was wondering if there's any others to look into. Old or new even. I loved the Hatfields and McCoys too so doesn't have to be premium channels.

As for teaching, it wasn't anything you just mentioned because I believe I have all that. I don't think I have the x factor you're speaking of. Although I may and it may just be the lack of desire to be a teacher

I really think I'm done with teaching. Maybe I'll just substitute next year?
Hmmm

Three questions for those who have seen the show:

1. On which episode do you think John Adams performs best?
2. Would you vote for John Adams?
3. Would you vote for Abigail Adams?

Hard to select one page from the whole of his life. But, his time in Philadelphia
during the Second Cont. Congress, when they were at Independence Hall,
was a shining moment for him.

Yes

I'm confused here. What is she running for?

2. Would you vote for John Adams?
Probably not. But maybe

3. Would you vote for Abigail Adams?
Not sure what her politics are but if they're like Adams' then probably not
Still like him as a person though
