What is the name of this American Civil War movie? - Historum

This has been bugging me for a good long while.

Basically, I remember watching an old trailer once from a movie about the American Civil War. Basically, two guys (one Union and one Confederate) meet each other. The Confederate guy is wounded and the Union guy decides to help him escape, so they essentially go AWOL on both of their armies and become fast friends. Whether they fall in love, I have no idea. I'd love to see that, though. It'd be a refreshing plot in the whole American Civil War movies genre. If that isn't the case, then I shall write one!!!

Please help me, because it's driving me insane! I want to watch this movie, but have no idea what it is!

Know who the actors were?
Know the decade the movie was made? B/W, Color...1950s,60s, etc
Big budget, small one
All the information you can give would help.

That's just it! I can't remember!

If I had to guess, I'd say...from 1990 to 2010? That range?

Sadly, that is all I know. 8(
