I find Mr Marr's series to be a bit short on history and long on drama, I don't find him to be a particularly charismatic presenter either.

I'll take Bettany Hughes over Marr any day, even if she does get Mycenaeans and Messenians mixed up!

Hmmm, no 'leer' smilie, probably a good thing really.

It was rather a race with some very obvious holes. I've seen worse, though.

Just saw the first episode. Have to agree with those who say it's more entertaining than educational (for us history nuts anyway! ), but I enjoyed it. Certainly better than most of the drivel on TV today. (I also miss the days of Cosmos, Civilisation, The Ascent of Man, and Connections.)

There is, of course, no alternative to covering the history of the human world selectively in a limited amount of time, so as long as what is presented is done well, I'm not going to complain...

I enjoy this serie! A whole view about history, very easy to follow.
