This year's taiga drama


Looks very interesting - covers a historical figure I hadn't even heard of before, Nijima Yae, who appears to have been a female Christian gunslinger who lived during the bakumatsu:

NHK spotlights gunslinging daughter of the north in yearlong Sunday drama | The Japan Times Online

I shall definitely have to see if I can catch this (and not just because Ayase Haruka is in it).

Yeah, right. Although I admit she makes a very attractive gunslinger.

These dramas are shown so inconsistently on my local channel the last few years. The last one that I can remember being shown from start to finish, without hiccups, was the Musashi drama starring Ichikawa Ebizo. After that, it was always hit or miss.
