Union strategy for Civil War

Discuss the Union strategy for the Civil War. What was Lincolnís strategy? How was the Union successful in implementing its war plans?

Look up Winfield Scott's Anaconda Plan. While it wasn't implemented officially, unofficially the Union did end up implementing it as a result of circumstance over the course of the war.
