need help with leaders of the first naval militant people

We are currently enrolled in a national history day project and we are doing a web page over 5 leaders, we have four that we wish to use but we need another and were hoping to use the ruler of the first people to use naval combat. Any input would help. =D

Well, I understand correctly you need knowing the name of an ancient naval commander. The most famous one is probably Themistocles, an Athenian who leadered the Greek fleet in [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_salamis"]Battle of Salamis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] (though, an Spartan was nomally in charge of the fleet).

The very first dettailed naval battle we know is [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Delta"]Battle of the Delta - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] , the commander was the pharaoh Ramesses III. He designed the performed tactic and leadered the entire armed force, though we don't know if he fought at all on board.

Ramesses III, no. But Themistocles was a true sea man, he ordered the building of Athenian ports, the making of the Athenian navy, and also he leadered such navy in the Battles of Arthemision and Salamis. These two battles, not being very numerous, were of extreme importance.
