Hm yes I understand what you mean. For the Cold War for example, we learned 3 views: Orthodox, Revisionist and Post-revisionist. Each gives a different view on the causes or origins of the Cold War. Maybe it is an oversimplification, but I'm just in High School and that's all I need.
I guess for both wars one question would be the German guilt, I know Fischer said Germany planned WWI all beforehand, etc. Origins/causes can be Imperialism and Colonialisation, Militarism and Nationalism for both wars. I know Taylor said that in WWI the military plans and timetables played a big role and he also said Hitler was an opportunist and it is not clear if he in fact had concrete ideas about the expansion, etc.
When I am asked to argue about the causes/origins of WWI or WWII I would like to support my view with what some historian says, that makes my work more detailed.
Any views from historians you can give me, I am glad to take!
